I grew up in a 7th day sabaath keeping church. It is one of the many things I deeply miss about those days. The way we practiced it seemed to me to be a combination of legalism and grace and it has taken many years to sort out the difference. That said, the Sabaath to me was a blessed cessation from the pressures and labors of life....a cessation ordained by God. We began the day on Friday evening by worshiping God in music, prayer and bible reading. Sunday worship in the modern tradition has never come close to providing the rest of body and soul that God created us to need. In fact, typically, themodern Sunday worship agenda is emotionally exhausting for me. God even went so far as to command us to take that time for our own good apparently because he knew none of us had the natural sense to figure it out on our own.

this is post is money! (that means it's one of your best ever...) kinda crazy that you get 2 comments on something like this but if you write about flippin' politics or something people comment out the yin-yang. sabbath is pimp! (I'm enjoying mine right now)

man, this has been so huge in my life. My sabbath has been pretty much every Friday for about the last 2 years. I'm lovin' it. It's just my day to remember that He is God and i am not. i love what my boy Louie says sabbath is... to say that "Everything doesn’t hinge on me. If I stop doing my part, the whole world will not fall apart. I am not in control. God made the whole world in six days without any input from me, or my assistance. God doesn’t need me to accomplish His work. I am little. God is huge. I trust Him." oh & this one is PIMP = “Waiting on God ascribes to God the glory of being all to us. For when we tirelessly toil, as though that’s what it takes to keep our ship afloat, we steal God’s glory, elevating ourselves as sole providers and sustainers of all we have and are. By refusing to slow down and bring things to a halt we are telling God that He is not enough for us.”
Man, when i learned to let go for 1 day a week (no matter how behind i was) i truly get more done & i'm more effective the rest of the week. i love my fridays/sabbaths/rest in God day. oh and btw - i guarantee that everybody's wife will love it too! mine looks forward to it every week.
Awesome post - keep it comin'
